To celebrate Baker’s impact and memorialize his legacy, Nike partnered with the Gilbert Baker Estate, working hand-in-hand to create this year’s 2019 BETRUE collection. For the first time, the footwear, apparel and accessories all feature the icon’s original eight-color flag, as well as other meaningful “Gilbert-y” touches and symbols of Pride. The collection was released at select global retails and on nike.com on June 8th and many items, including most of the 4 different shoe styles have already sold out.

With Pride Month set to kick off this weekend, June 1st, it’s only fitting that Nike don the colorful tones of the LGBTQ flags. Atop many of their classics — namely the Air Max 90, Tailwind, Pegasus 35 Turbo, Air Max 720, and Benassi slides — are various twists on the rainbow themes as well as a deep breadth of inspirations.
