The Gilbert Baker foundation ambassador program
Empowering Change Through Advocacy
The Gilbert Baker Foundation Ambassador Program is a transformative initiative designed to empower individuals passionate about LGBTQ rights and equality. Our ambassadors are dedicated advocates who work tirelessly to spread awareness and foster inclusivity in their communities. Through this program, we aim to honor the legacy of Gilbert Baker by inspiring a new generation of activists who are committed to making a positive impact on society.
Ambassadors are provided with resources and support to engage in meaningful activism, education, and outreach activities. By joining this program, you become part of a global network of change-makers who are united in their mission to uphold the values represented by the Rainbow Flag. Together, we strive to create a world where diversity is celebrated, and every individual is free to express their true identity.
Meet Our Ambassadors

Rick Foster
Orange County, CA
Rick Foster’s journey as an LGBTQ+ refugee advocate began when he recognized a critical gap in humanitarian support for this vulnerable community. For nearly a decade, he has dedicated himself to amplifying the voices of persecuted LGBTQ+ individuals in refugee camps across Africa.
Despite facing institutional resistance from UNHCR and various governments, Rick’s persistence has brought attention to systemic issues in refugee processing. His advocacy has directly resulted in hundreds of successful resettlements of individuals who had been overlooked by traditional systems.
As his calling evolved, Rick expanded his work globally, advocating for LGBTQ+ protection on an international scale. Throughout his journey, he’s witnessed how the Rainbow Flag serves as a universal symbol of hope and safety for those he helps—echoing Gilbert Baker’s vision of creating a unifying emblem of pride and protection.
Working with minimal resources, Rick continues to build networks that connect vulnerable individuals with lifesaving support across continents.

Hal Moskowitz
Spain
“I was beyond blessed to have a friend and mentor in Gilbert Baker. My goal and my dream is to be successful at carrying on Gilbert’s struggle for all members of the LGBTQ+ community to achieve equality and acceptance. His iconic rainbow flag has become an international peace symbol offering respite for those persecuted by homophobia, racism, transphobia, and biphobia. Seeing this international symbol waving gently in the wind conveys a strkong direct message from the flag’s hosts: “
We fly this flag because we are proud of this community, and if you should need it, you are safe here with me.” Hal Moskowitz is a veteran activist for the LGBTQ+ community with more than forty years of service. He is currently the Co-chair of the LGBTQ+ Caucus for Democrats Abroad Spain, a founding member of Gays Agains Guns in New York and a former board member of GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis). A familiar face in his New York Chelsea community, Moskowitz is an active member of the Chelsea Block Association and Chelsea Gardens Community Board. Professionally he worked in the healthcare industry in rehabilitation medicine, nursing and as an adjunct professor of urology second year medical students. Stephen Sunday
Texas
I am Stephen Sunday, an AIDS activist and an advocate for the LGBTQ community for 40 years. I was crowned King of Fantasy Fest in 2013 in Key West by raising the most money for AIDShelp.
I was the sole person instrumental in having the rainbow flag flown year-round in the City of West Palm Beach in June 2018. I had the honor of being the Custodian for section 93 in Washington DC., at the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court during the marriage equality hearing in April 2015.
Today I am the Texas Ambassador for the Gilbert Baker Foundation. I have the honor to showcase Section 102, know as the “Cloth of Love”. My volunteering requires traveling to cities across Texas and beyond to promote education, diversity, respect, freedom, peace and most of all, LOVE!
